713,787 Signatures

(Sacramento, CA) Supporters of the Jessicas Law Initiative today submitted 713,787 signatures to county elections officials throughout the state, virtually assuring its qualification for the November ballot.

 

The campaign needed to collect 373,816 valid signatures to qualify the measure, which is a statutory initiative.

 

"This is a historic step in our efforts to protect Californians and especially our children and grandchildren, from sexual predators," said Senator George Runner, co-sponsor of the Jessicas Law Initiative.

 

"We want to thank the 713,787 citizens who signed the petition to put this vitally important measure on the ballot," said Assemblywoman Sharon Runner, another Jessicas Law co-sponsor.
